Hardcore Motivation

A How-to on Hardcore Motivation

in Back On Track

I am writing this after nice Sunday supper. Just when I’ve procrastinated my pending projects for a long time. I’ve a magazine to review, 3 redesigns, 3 web projects and a book to write, not to forget the guest post commitments and yes 2 new projects I’ve been working on. I was not at all motivated. And then came the moment of salvation.

Simple question – how do you review the motivation or stay motivated? Simple answer which I seem to have always overlooked – by doing, and diving in. Action is most delicious of experience in leading edge of thought we are living. Go and start writing, go and start thinking, go and think on paper, talk to your friends about it (they might get bored, but what are friends for?), call me and talk to me about it, drop me a mail about it, turn on that camera and make a video about it, upload it on youtube – go ahead in direction of it.

If your mind doesn’t see the result or progress – you will be bored and go unmotivated. Don’t go in details, don’t take the burden – enjoy dude. Have fun. And so is true for everyone that you want to keep motivated.

Show them results, if there are no results – fake them. Yes do that! Because until you can’t fake it, you can’t make it. Say it’s done, say it’s closed even if isn’t but keep that momentum going.

Please don’t get me wrong I am not talking about ‘hard work’ for it is sure shot way to get de-motivated. Go to a enthusiastic teen and whisper ‘hard work’ and you will hear him swear at top of his voice. Go and say ‘progress’, say ‘flow’, ahead, speed, adrenaline, biking, hiking, swimming – oh I love that! Don’t you? It’s the flow it’s the momentum.

So go on and make yourself feel progressing even if you have to lie for the benefit of it is far greater than being right. Be wrong for Christ’s sake, for God’s sake, for your sake. And there it comes – the motivation.

Take it easy, don’t make work out of it. I know you are as good as me in making work out of things but just this once – let it be fun.

PS: Replace motivation by inspiration and reread the article.

My good friend Kat Ricker says something I like a lot: “Keep it fun or you won't keep it.” There is nothing more fun than making progress. It's hard not to enjoy it when you're better than you were the day before. Good post, homie.

Hey Josh!
Welcome,
I like it too! Keep it fun! Yeah! Make work out of it and it's so gone.

Thanks, hope to see you here more often.
